How to improve the adhesion of White Opaque PET film
White Opaque PET film is a thermoplastic film with high transparency, good luster, and good airtightness. White Opaque PET film is a film with strong polarity, the surface tension of unprocessed White Opaque PET film can be over 40 dynes. But some ink directly up, adhesion is not ideal, but also in the White Opaque PET film for a special treatment to achieve better adhesion.
Adhesion is fundamental to most coating properties, such as scratch resistance, water resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance. At present, there is no clear scientific explanation for the fundamental mechanism of adhesion. It is generally believed that the high surface tension of the substrate can form good adhesion. The White Opaque PET film, however, is the third most difficult substrate to adhere to, after PE and PP, among the commonly used plastic film substrates.
Corona discharge is a kind of physical treatment method to form micro-cracks and effective functional groups on the surface of thin films by high voltage discharge. This is the most common treatment for White Opaque PET film. After corona treatment, the White Opaque PET film not only greatly improves the surface tension for wetting, but also greatly improves the surface roughness. For scenarios where adhesion is a general requirement, corona treatment is already excellent. However, corona treatment can not meet the high-quality requirements if the customer has a very high adhesion requirement.
UV curing coating liquid is a kind of UV curing coating, which is coated on White Opaque PET film and cured by UV light, it forms a hard, transparent, scratch-resistant coating on the White Opaque PET film. The hardness of the UV cured White Opaque PET film increases dramatically, extending the range of its applications.
